FRESH is more soul shop than barbershop and it is more than a place. It is an ever evolving exploration of what can happen when we come together.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING
In the 1990s, young entrepreneur Houston White began cutting hair and screen-printing t-shirts in his auntie’s basement. Driven by a vision to create inclusive spaces and better products for textured hair, he started formulating his own line of haircare solutions. In 2007, he founded FRESH (formerly HWMR) in the Camdentown neighborhood of North Minneapolis—a barbershop that quickly became a vibrant hub for community-building, authentic self-expression, and the inclusive celebration of Black culture. Today, FRESH welcomes people of all backgrounds who crave a culture of their own making.
